Yamaha P45 Digital Piano Review:

Yamaha P-45 Digital piano is the lowest cost, 88-Note, Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) weighted action key bed. It comes with a USB Port on the back which you can connect to your computer.

GHS (graded hammer standard) weighted action has heavier touch in the lower end and lighter touch in the higher end same as the hammers inside an acoustic piano. So, practicing on the keyboard with GHS action build your finger strength.

When it comes to performing on an acoustic piano, the black keys have a matte finish, so they get less slippery when playing for an extended amount of time. Its USB to Host port gives you permission to connect with a wide variety of educational, music creation or music entertainment applications on a computer or mobile device. You can also connect it with a ¼ inch cable directly into an amplifier.

With Yamaha P-45 Digital piano, you can perform live with its built-in stereo speakers driven by dual 6W amplifiers.

Through its on-board performance features, this piano will serve you according to your needs at home, in the studio as well for the performance outside like on stage. It comes with accessories that include Power adapter, along with a sustainable foot-switch and music rest.

Similar to the Yamaha’s other P-series digital pianos this model, as a remarkably portable instrument, has a compact, lightweight, and contemporary design. It gives you easy storage and effortless portability as it is slim too and only about a ft. deep. You can easily move it around at home, studio or pack in the car for a gig.

The layout on this board is also pretty simple as everything is controlled from one button. Just hold down and then press the keyboard to change sounds, play demos and use the metronome and a few other things. The lower half of the keyboard has mid-range and higher notes while the upper half of the keyboard has lower and mid-range notes.

The p45 is ready to play right out of the box as it doesn’t need to fit together separate component parts or anything like this. It is one of the affordable pianos in the market so if you’re on a budget and still looking for something that’s of great quality, then this is one for you.

Yamaha P45 Digital Piano includes the following main features, let’s have a look at them one by one:

  • Built-In Quality Sound System:

It features two onboard speakers which give you a very smooth stereo sound in the normal mode while in the split mode it automatically sends all the sounds from the lower part of the keyboard to the left speaker and all the sound from upper part of the keyboard to the right speaker. To turn off your split mode, you just have to press and hold your “Grand Piano Function” button and then press the d4 key.

  • Dual Mode:

It includes Dual-Mode for partner practice that lets you combine two Voices i.e. piano and strings together, for an inspiring new playing experience.

  • 64-Note Polyphony:

64-note polyphony allows the player to perform moderately dense piano passages, with few or no dropped notes being cut off.

  • Full-Stereo AWM Sampling:

AWM stereo sampling as stands for Advanced Wave Memory, uses digital technology such as actual instruments to creates and deliver a real, deeper, richer and more spacious piano sound by using pairs of waveforms captured with two microphones. AWM used to play one sample per key at varying levels of volume and allows you to enjoy grand piano reverberation.

  • Keyboard layer mode and 4 reverb effects style:

Keyboard layer mode of P45 Digital piano lets you create more complex sounds while its 4 reverb effects style adds dimension to your sound.

  • Ideal digital piano for practice and performance
  • Lightweight and easy to use
  • Sounds exactly like a real piano
  • Amazing quality for the price
  • MIDI connectivity
  • Tone quality is good

  • The pedal that comes with it is pretty flimsy
  • Limited sounds

If you’re searching for an excellent grand piano sound and feel on a budget, then you cannot get better than Yamaha’s P-45 digital piano. It includes a lot of features like you can change the reverb type and depth, as well as transpose, fine tune, octave shift, split function, double voices, etc., that are hidden within the piano keys themselves and activated using the simple “Function” button in combination with whichever assigned function key you’re utilizing. They literally all do something, but they’ve only labeled a few. However, the speakers are loud enough for solo practice or voice accompaniment.

The Yamaha P45 Digital Piano doesn’t come with the keyboard stand or the piano bench so you will have to get those for you. I believe that Yamaha will soon make a stand that’s designed to go with the p45.
